About Harvey Smith
Harvey Smith is a UNC Charlotte Certified Business Coach, Certified
Career Management Coach and Past President of the International
Coach Federation Charlotte Chapter.
As
one of the East Coast’s most sought after coaches, Harvey’s
expertise includes working with corporate executives and teams,
CEO’s, business managers, sales professionals, entrepreneurs
and individuals desiring to enhance or change their career.
Harvey works with clients on multiple career issues including:
business building, sales and communication skills, effective leadership,
networking, goal setting, strategizing, career management and
transition. Harvey’s work with clients includes DISC communication
and behavioral style assessments to maximize clients’ abilities
to work with others successfully. Most clients feel that coaching
gives them insights into their way of relating in the business
world with tools they can use for the rest of their lives. Harvey’s
combination of business experience and coaching abilities facilitate
change and instill confidence.
Harvey also has an expertise in franchise development and sales,
including a partnership in 2001-2003 with National Franchise Consultants.
As a former franchise owner, Harvey has a firsthand understanding
of common challenges in the industry. This franchise experience
provides a strong commonality when coaching franchisees and/or
executives who are considering a franchise purchase.
Before making his home in Charlotte, NC, Harvey was a resident
of New York City, and Vice President of Sales and Marketing for
the largest textile converter in the United States. His career
at Concord Fabrics began as a sales trainee, and 23 years later
he was running a $65 million dollar division. His career achievements
included a key role in developing relationships with major retail
chains, troubleshooting and rebuilding a division from $750,000
to $22 million in annual sales, and overseeing a national sales
force. His personal sales were in the multimillions year after
year, and his approach to relationship selling has been a key
to his success.
Harvey’s professional associations and accomplishments include:
UNC Charlotte Certified Business Coach, Certified Career Management
Coach, ICF Coach Certification and Certifications as a Behavior
& Values Analyst. Harvey is Past President of the International
Coach Federation-Charlotte Chapter; and a visiting Faculty member
of the N.C. State University Coaching program and previously taught
in the Duke University and UNC Charlotte Coaching Programs. Harvey
has been a contributing columnist from September 2005 through
June 2007 to Career Coach, a weekly column appearing in the Charlotte
Observer “Money Wise” Sunday Business Section.
